I came to printmaking after a long career as a painter. My love of the landscape and its flowing movements transitioned easily into that of monotypes. Often considered a ‘painterly’ technique, monotype involves rolling, manipulating, and brushing ink onto a smooth surface, such as Plexiglas. and transferring that image onto paper, usually with the help of a press. The results never fail to surprise me. The press often gives its own gift to the artwork.
